Omi has something to tell you... Will you listen?
Major Contributions:
This was a semester long experimental project where I partnered up with a friend to make a game for a class. I was in charge of engineering, my partner was in charge of art implementation, we were both responsible for visual design, narrative design, and voice acting.Â
Some things that I worked on:
Designed and implemented voice over narrative interaction (no third party software used).
Designed the emotional experience and wrote the emotional beats.
Tested the overlapping narrative structures to re-write and re-design the physical space and narrative flow.
Directed a four person music team from Berklee School of Music.
Further Project Description and Goals:
The core thing that we wanted to achieve with this project was to write a narrative that rewards players who pay attention. There is an overarching narrative and a hidden narrative; should the player find the hidden narrative as they progress through the world, the overarching narrative is recontextualized and the primary narrator is revealed to be unreliable. The only player choice is that of listening. The world and characters remain cemented in the past and themselves, unless the player decides to listen. Only the action of creating space and listening impacts the state and result of the game.
We had the privilege of closely working with four incredible musicians from Berklee School of Music. My partner on the project and I were responsible for the direction of their team, and I was responsible for all of the music integration.
